MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT

As of 1st August 2014 Halfway Home Dog Rescue will be closing as a rehoming centre.  Halfway Home Dog Rescue will continue as a rescue for the dogs in its care and those it has rehomed during 2014.  We are considering a few other options at the moment and will update as plans progress.

There are a culmination of reasons as to why this very very sad decision has had to be made. Val is basically worn out mentally and physically. Anyone in real rescue with hands on will understand this we are sure.

It is regrettable that Facebook is currently being used as a tool to slander Halfway Home despite all the years of good work and rescuing dogs.

Please be assured that the negative comments being levelled at us are unfounded and untrue. We will continue to honour all veterinary requirements, neutering vouchers, etc whilst the funds exist. We still have dogs that may be unhomable and some dogs here and in foster with issues that will need to be cared for for the rest their lives so we urge all to continue their support for us.

Sadly, the administrator of the Halfway Home Facebook account, (which is now not part of, or associated with, Halfway Home) has, having resigned from this position, decided to post malicious and disparaging comments about the rescue and its running. We are unable to post our reasoning for the decision on FB and people supporting us are being deleted.

She has cited “overwork” over the past 30 months as the grounds for resignation, despite having no involvement with the running of or volunteering at the rescue centre.

The current Halfway Home Facebook page is now a private enterprise to which Halfway Home have no input, sway or otherwise and does not represent the views of Val or Halfway Home.

We would just like everyone to know that the FB admin has only set foot on the property once when she came with her mum to adopt a dog. Other than that she has had nothing to do with the running of the Rescue, her volunteer role that she offered to do was to monitor FB, she was told on numerous occasions that the HWH FB page was to be used to advertise our dogs, our fund raising events and anyone who wanted to send us updates on the dogs they had adopted from the rescue and to raise funds for specific dogs with specialist needs. Over a period of time we have had various calls, threatening us with solicitors and police for things that she had said on FB which were her own personal feelings and nothing to do with the rescue.

We have never had access to this FB page to delete any thing we felt disparaging  as she would never make us Admin after numerous requests. She has no permission to post under Halfway Home.

Sadly we let it go onto FB before we put this post up – we are genuinely sorry for that as it has now been taken out of complete context. The FB Admin took it upon herself to post a personal email from Val, but if anybody would like a copy of the emails she sent to Val beforehand you are welcome to see them.

We will be contacting all our major supporters personally so that we can discuss the way forward. Val is sorry that a lot of people have had to hear it from the internet rather than personally.

We will keep you updated on any further developments on our website. We have had someone offer to start a new facebook page so that we can post all of the lovely emails in support that we have received, so anyone who wants to put a positive reply on there will be able to do so, as we are aware that we do not have this opportunity on our website.

We wish to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all those genuine supporters and for your continued support until all of this can be sorted out.

We have now received the correct login details to the new paypal acc.

A Dog's Will

When humans die, they make a will
To leave their homes and all they have
To those they love.
I, too, would make a will if I could write;
To some poor wistful lonely stray
I leave my happy home,
My dish, my cosy bed, my cushioned chair, my toy,
The well-loved lap, the gently stoking hand,
The loving voice,
The place I made in someone’s heart,
The love that, at the last, could help me to
A peaceful, painless end,
Held in loving arms.
If I should die, Oh! Do not say,
“No more a pet I’ll have
To grieve me by its loss”.
Seek out some lonely, unloved dog
And give my place to him.
This is my legacy I leave behind
‘Tis all I have to give.
